![]() ![]() There are some shootouts on Youtube so you could refer to those for reference on which sound you prefer, good luck! You can only have so many SSL G models so you may as well decide which one you think is 'you' that you are ok to use. Then you have Waves and Plugin Alliance where you can buy the look and feel of SSL for $29. Or instead you could get DMG Trackcomp2 which has amongst its 8 excellent compressors an SSL G model, its priced at just under 200 pounds for all 8 compressors. The question then becomes: Whats most important to you in the sound and, in my opinion, the look and purchasing power of the brand.įor SSL G Bus you have so many companies, consider this: You can buy SSL's actual G Bus native format direct from SSL for $329, which to my mind is expensive for what it does. ![]() Realistically though, you can get SSL from a range of companies and they will all perform slightly differently under the 'exact' same settings. You may decide you want to go UAD route because of the extra DSP it provides to your workflow - I use my UAD for some duties I dont want my CPU to have to deal with, for example, reverbs and some special processing. In terms of emulation, they are considered the best with the quality of detail. The appeal with UAD is that the quality generally speaking across the board is there. With good ears, you can make top quality mixes with Waves plugins, no doubt. They are going to sound different, they are also going to react differently, so they are certainly not the same. ![]()
